Ropework for Scrambling
I've been out at Burbage North with David looking at the ropework skills for scrambling. Burbage North may seem like an unlikely setting for undertaking scrambling, yet the broken, rocky ground to the right Of Ash Tree Wall provides an ideal area for looking at the necessary skills for ropework and belaying on scrambles, albeit on a smaller scale. There was a distinct sense of Autumn today not only signalled by the changing colours of the vegetation in the valley, but also by the chilly wind blowing over the crag. The picture below is of some Cladonia floerkeana, (sometimes referred to as Devil's Matchsticks) which was in the rocks around Ash Tree Wall.
